About Beat Saber
Beat Saber is a virtual reality rhythm game from Beat Games, and you need a PC VR headset to play it. Blocks fly towards you in time with the music and you slice them in the right direction with two glowing sabres, while ducking and dodging walls. It is great exercise and easy to pick up. There are dozens of songs included, extra music packs, and online matches against other players. The makers recommend a GTX 1060 and 8 GB of memory, so a mid-range gaming PC runs it well.
What Beat Saber needs
In plain words: to play at all it needs an entry-level graphics card, and to play it well the makers suggest a mid-range graphics card from a few years ago, with 8GB of memory.
| Part | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Graphics card | Nvidia GTX 960 or equivalent | Nvidia GTX 1060 or equivalent |
| Processor | Intel Core i5 Sandy Bridge or equivalent | Intel Core i7 Skylake or equivalent |
| Memory (RAM) | 4 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Storage | 200 MB available space | 200 MB available space |

Will my computer play Beat Saber?
On most computers we find the graphics card for you. Add your processor and memory, and we will tell you if it plays, and what to upgrade if not.
A low-spec PC or a high-spec PC?
The gap between the minimum and recommended spec is modest, so a mid-range gaming PC gives a good experience.
On a PC that only just meets the minimum, the game will start and play, but on low settings: simpler shadows and textures, shorter view distances and fewer frames each second, so fast moments can feel less smooth. A 1080p screen is the sensible match.
On a PC that meets or beats the recommended spec, you can turn the settings up: sharper textures, proper shadows and lighting, more detail in the distance, and a smoother picture. A stronger PC also lets you use a sharper 1440p or high-refresh screen.
