About S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl - Enhanced Edition
This Enhanced Edition is an updated version of GSC Game World's classic shooter Shadow of Chornobyl, the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game. You play a stalker with no memory, hunting a man called Strelok across the dangerous Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, where mutants, deadly anomalies and rival factions stand in your way. It mixes shooting with survival and role-playing, is single player, and supports mods. The makers recommend a GTX 1060 or RX 580 and 8 GB of memory, so a mid-range gaming PC runs it well.
What S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl - Enhanced Edition needs
In plain words: to play at all it needs an entry-level graphics card, and to play it well the makers suggest a mid-range graphics card from a few years ago, with 8GB of memory.
| Part | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Graphics card | NVIDIA GeForce GTX960 4GB / AMD Radeon RX 560 4GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB |
| Processor | Intel Core i3-7100 / AMD Ryzen 3 1300X | Intel Core i5-6600K / AMD Ryzen 5 1600X |
| Memory (RAM) | 8 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Storage | 12 GB available space | 12 GB available space |

Will my computer play S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl - Enhanced Edition?
On most computers we find the graphics card for you. Add your processor and memory, and we will tell you if it plays, and what to upgrade if not.
A low-spec PC or a high-spec PC?
The gap between the minimum and recommended spec is modest, so a mid-range gaming PC gives a good experience.
On a PC that only just meets the minimum, the game will start and play, but on low settings: simpler shadows and textures, shorter view distances and fewer frames each second, so fast moments can feel less smooth. A 1080p screen is the sensible match.
On a PC that meets or beats the recommended spec, you can turn the settings up: sharper textures, proper shadows and lighting, more detail in the distance, and a smoother picture. A stronger PC also lets you use a sharper 1440p or high-refresh screen.
