About Subnautica: Below Zero
Subnautica: Below Zero is an underwater survival adventure from Unknown Worlds, set on a frozen region of the alien ocean planet from the first Subnautica. You play a scientist investigating what happened to her sister, diving beneath the ice to gather resources, build underwater bases and vehicles, and explore while avoiding dangerous sea creatures. It is single player and suits explorers who like a mystery. The makers recommend a GTX 1050 Ti or RX 570 and 8 GB of memory, so a mid-range gaming PC runs it well.
What Subnautica: Below Zero needs
In plain words: to play at all it needs almost any graphics, even the graphics built into the processor, and to play it well the makers suggest an entry-level graphics card, with 8GB of memory.
| Part | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Graphics card | Intel HD 530 or better | Nvidia 1050 Ti / AMD Radeon 570, 4GB VRAM |
| Processor | Intel Core i3 4XXX series / AMD Ryzen 3 2.6ghz+ | Intel Core i5 4XXX series/ AMD Ryzen 5 @ 3Ghz + |
| Memory (RAM) | 8 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Storage | 15 GB available space | 15 GB available space |

Will my computer play Subnautica: Below Zero?
On most computers we find the graphics card for you. Add your processor and memory, and we will tell you if it plays, and what to upgrade if not.
A low-spec PC or a high-spec PC?
This is a light game: almost any of our gaming PCs will run it comfortably at high settings.
On a PC that only just meets the minimum, the game will start and play, but on low settings: simpler shadows and textures, shorter view distances and fewer frames each second, so fast moments can feel less smooth. A 1080p screen is the sensible match.
On a PC that meets or beats the recommended spec, you can turn the settings up: sharper textures, proper shadows and lighting, more detail in the distance, and a smoother picture. A stronger PC also lets you use a sharper 1440p or high-refresh screen.
